Glitching Venus De Milo is a Posthumanist reflection on this universal symbol of femininity, as the Male Gaze is reversed, refigured, disrupted, and transformed in our moment. Responding to the exigencies of our time, Glitching Venus is part of a collection of glitched classical sculptures I started in 2018 with Diana Artemis and later with Juno Moneta. Using Chronometric Sculpture of photogrammetry and scanned 3d data of highly influential classical symbols of the feminine, this series is conceptually situated in Post Internet art and meme culture.  As the genesis Venus De Milo NFT from this collection, this piece employs modeling, procedural/generative 3D deformations and dynamics/simulations as a formal exploration of virtual volume. Framed within an animated architectural backdrop with Renaissance, futurist, and Stoa references (combining 3DCG and AI GAN generated elements), the glitch is a hack of art history, existing conventions in the visual arts, and socio-political and cultural aspects of the Gaze.
